Job Description

A leading North American manufacturer in the clean tech sector is hiring a Process Automation Technician to support the integrity and optimization of automated manufacturing systems across its production lines. The technician will play a key role in equipment auditing, process monitoring, troubleshooting, and collaborating cross-functionally to maintain quality, reduce downtime, and enhance operational efficiency.

This role is well-suited for technically trained candidates who are hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in data-driven process control within fast-paced industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily audits of equipment to capture and document process recipes and control parameters.
  • Monitor production processes for deviations, using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and implement Out of Control Action Plans (OCAPs) when needed.
  • Partner with Quality and Engineering teams to collect data, analyze trends, and adjust process parameters to optimize throughput and product consistency.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and equipment cleanings to support overall uptime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine automation and process issues and escalate complex challenges appropriately.
  • Support continuous improvement through root cause analysis (PK, A3, Apollo methods), value stream mapping, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Execute small-scale improvement projects involving recipe changes, equipment modifications, or new process validation.
  • Lead and participate in design of experiments (DOE), statistical testing, and reporting to refine process outcomes.
  • Ensure safety protocols and protective systems are always active and functioning as intended.
  • Update training documentation and support onboarding of new technicians and operators.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration between maintenance, production, and quality teams to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a STEM or technical field (e.g., Engineering Technology, Microelectronics, Mechanical/Electrical Systems).
  • At least 6 months of hands-on technical experience in an industrial or automated environment.
  • Familiarity with data analysis, statistical controls, and troubleshooting of production equipment.
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude with willingness to learn new systems.
  • Comfortable working rotating shifts and in fast-paced settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • 2+ years in a semi- or fully automated production environment.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems, HMI interfaces, pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors, VFDs , or vision inspection systems.
